Our Legal Duty
The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, regulation 7 states “that every employer shall appoint one or more competent persons to assist him in undertaking the measures he needs to take to comply with the requirements and prohibitions imposed on him”.
Nationwide Heating & Cooling regards the provision of a safe and healthy working environment on construction sites as a principal objective. This objective can only be achieved by the co-operation of the Company, employees, subcontractors, the client and his representatives and the main contractor. Co-operation must be at all levels within these different organisations through the structures established under the Construction Design and Management Regulations (CDM).
All managers and supervisors are responsible for the safety of employees, subcontractors and visitors in their charge and must ensure that policies and procedures are made known and are observed. It is their responsibility to ensure the effective delegation of these duties during their absence.
Our managing directors and contracts managers are committed to promote a positive health and safety culture by creating an interest and enthusiasm for health and safety in all activities and set a good example (including wearing appropriate protective clothing and equipment).

Health & Safety Support
Nationwide Heating and Cooling have external Health & Safety consultants - DSSC consultants - that offer advice and support on all aspects relating to health, safety and environmental issues.
DSSC provides advice on changing legislation and best working practice to managers/supervisors and operatives. DSSC have a good understanding of the working environment, and understand how to develop a positive safety culture. They ensure that employees are consulted and support/advice offered. Thus creating a safe working environment that is supported throughout the company.
DSSC provides a personal service, working alongside existing directors, managers, site supervisors and operatives, to help create and maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
Services provided include:

We are registered members of ConstructionLine, a Government-run scheme, which collects, assesses and monitors our standard company information with regards to environmental management, quality management, equal opportunities, modern slavery act adherence and anti-bribery and corruption policies. It is the largest pre-qualification database in the UK and the UK's leading procurement and supply chain management service.
REFCOM
Our accreditation with REFCOM, which stands for the Register of Companies Competent to Manage Refrigerants, shows our commitment to operate in line with industry best practices to be environmentally aware as possible and compliant with all the relevant legislation.
ACCLAIM
Our Acclaim accreditation is part of ConstructionLine and demonstrates our compliance with Health and Safety legislation, enables us to be pre-qualified and assessed.
CHAS
We are registered members of The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme, a pre-approval scheme, which allows contractors to demonstrate to our clients that we meet the required Health and Safety standards.
CALOREX
We are an Approved Service Agent for Calorex products, a leading British brand manufacturing swimming pool heat pumps and chillers, dehumidifiers, commercial heat pumps, portable air-conditioners and building dryers.
GAS SAFE REGISTER
Our gas safe registration number is 517724. We are listed in the official list of gas engineers who are qualified to work legally on gas appliances.
